Katowice in Bloom

Today, a distraction from my almost typical musings. Instead I have been inspired by the intensity of spring; behold a bouquet of unpredictable randomness.

   The grasses are lush and green and the trees vivacious with leaves. Scattered from ground to tree-top stand a captivating abundance of flowering buds.

   In a working city of coal mining and constant construction, strong doses of nature are woven among the graffiti and concrete. Throughout the city and its people, there lies beauty and sentimental charm.

 GODZINA MYŚLI

Potém gdy w wiosennego powietrza błękicie, w balsamy się rozlała czarna lasów sosna,
 Znudzeni wonią kwiatów zmięszaną, stokrotną,
wynaleźli woń tęskną - dziką i ulotną;
Była to woń wierzbami opłakanéj wody, z cichéj fali wstawała każdego wieczora,
Tajemnicze w powietrzu rozlewając chłody.

TIME OF THOUGHT
  (translation)

Then in the spring when the blue air, the balm has leaked black pine forests,
Bored smell of flowers mixed hundredfold, invented wistful scent - wild and elusive;
It was the smell of willows deplorable water, in a quiet wave to get up every night,
Mysterious chills in the air spilling.

  1. Your pictures are gorgeous! And the commentary is very poetic (even beside the actual poem)...

    1. Ha ha, thanks! If I ever do flower shots again, I need to mingle them in with something else.. They're a little hard to write about on their own.. : )
